Shawano and area activities 

There’s more to life on and around the Shawano Lakes than just sitting on the dock or water skiing! Members of the Shawano Ratepayers cottage association and friends enjoy great community events such as Dickey Day, the annual Corn Roast, a Golf Tournament and sailing regatta.

Lake Events

 Dickey Day, 2009

              This was a very successful event, well attended by “all ages”.

A very special “thank you” to convenor Mike Noble and every volunteer who worked so well together.

And, a very special “thank you” to Lori and Greg Walton for their “property hosting” generosity.

Annual General Meeting  (AGM)           2009

  Once again, this AGM was well attended.

The 2010 Annual General Meeting is scheduled for Saturday, July 24

Municipality of Marmora and Lake Council Meeting  2009

The Ridge Church

This, “away from the Council chambers” meeting was very well attended.  The Council meets locally only once a year, bringing their session to the Lake Township “neck of the woods”.  

The 2010 Council meeting “at the lake” will be held at The Ridge church, August 24

 Fish Derby

The derby has not been held for a few years due to a need for a new convenor.  Do you wish to volunteer ?

August 25, 2009   Corn Roast  

 This event was” a go ” !  What a friendly way to bring closure to another great summer, chatting with cottage friends and neighbours.Than you again Helen Shea and family for hosting such a delightful event.

The 2010 Corn Roast is scheduled for Saturday, August 28

 *** Legends of the Game  Golf Tournament   

          Marvel Rapids Golf Course          Saturday, August 11         

  This event was booked to capacity.The weather cooperated, the golfing was good and the afterparty food was fabulous.

Thank you William and Laurie Rothwelland all your faithful volunteers  for “stepping up to the plate” to convene this event. Laurie and Bill are already laying plans for “The Legends of the Game”, August 7, 2010
