  • SRI Annual General Meeting                   Saturday, July 24, 2010

             The Ridge Church    10:00 a.m.

The 2010 AGM

A less than packed hall, a good agenda, information shared, and in general a very good AGM.

Why the light attendance ? Some regulars were away from the area. Some owners are simply not interested and prefer others “pick up the torch” and do the work. Please folks, if you did not attend do not complain about the efforts of the SRI Directors. There is still time to Volunteer. You may wish to Volunteer in some capacity without being a Director.

What  a beautiful weather day.  Sunny, warm and a moderate breeze.  A little more wind would have made the Regatta even more exciting.  Several “vessels” and several spectator boats took to the main body of water on Dickey Lake.  Thank you Bruce Curwood, Dan Gordon, Pattie & Dan Norton and all others who made this annual event another success.

Read a detailed report and view pictures in the fall edition of The Loon’s Call.

Zebra Mussels

Zebra mussels have been identified in several area lakes.

Steenburg Lake apparently now has zebra mussels.

Everyone must be extra vigilant when moving a boat from lake to lake.

“Traveling” sport fishermen, the Ministry of Natural Resources and the Ontario Provincial Police move from lake to lake frequently .

The entire exterior of the boat must be cleaned and inspected, the bilge pumped dry  and water drained completely from the motor to allow drying of the cooling system.  Live bait and catch wells must be inspected and never dumped from lake to lake.

We call on everyone to keep zebra mussels out of our Shawano Lakes.
